Licensed Master Social Worker
Trauma & PTSD
Anxiety & Stress
LGBTQIA+
I work with adults from many walks of life: people from a range of racial, cultural, and social backgrounds, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and folks who are new to New York or new to the United States. Some of my clients have been in therapy for years. Others are sitting down with a therapist for the first time. Both are welcome here.
Much of my work centers on trauma and PTSD. I also support clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, identity development, relationship issues, and the stress of big life transitions. Whatever brings you in, I build the space around you, not a script.
Outside of sessions you'll usually find me on a yoga mat or in the mountains: backpacking, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding. That isn't just a fun fact. With clinical training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, I bring that same steadiness into the room, creating a safe, inclusive, and thoughtful space to figure out what feeling well actually looks like for you.
My approach is eclectic, with an emphasis on psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral frameworks. In plain English: we get curious about your past, notice the patterns it created, and build practical tools for your present. The mix depends entirely on your needs and goals.
I work from strengths-based, trauma-informed, and feminist principles, which means therapy here is collaborative. You are the expert on your own life. My job is to help you explore the connections, navigate the complicated emotions, and build something steady.
Emma earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Southern California and her Master of Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker with additional clinical training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and she sees clients virtually across New York and in-person.
